Mr. Checkout

Empowering Independent Retailers Through a National Association Network

Since 1989, the name Mr. Checkout has stood for support of the independent retail channel. Today, as retail landscapes continue to shift, the need for strong, focused associations that serve the jobbers, distributors, and independent retailers has never been greater. At Mr. Checkout Associations, we bring together the network and resources necessary to amplify the voice of independents and to ensure they thrive in a marketplace too often dominated by large-box chains.

In this overview, we explain who we are, what we do, why association membership matters for your business, how our structure is different, and how you can join or partner to benefit.

Who We Are

Mr. Checkout Associations is the umbrella network created by Mr. Checkout Distributors to support the trade‐association side of independent retail and distribution. We exist because the jobs of jobbers (the distributors who deliver Direct-Store Delivery, or DSD, to convenience stores, gift shops, independent grocery, pharmacy, and specialty retail) are too often undervalued and underserved.

Our roots trace back to the founding of Mr. Checkout in Miami in 1989, when our founder saw the need for a service model tailored to the independent route-to-market: one with personal service, small-store focus, flexible programs, and niche product support. Over decades we built a national network of independent distributors and retail owners. With that network emerged an opportunity: to create formal associations that raise standards, provide resources, unify advocacy, and deliver educational services to strengthen the independent retail channel.
